Hazards of snoring and preventive measures

Snoring is called snoring in medicine. Snoring not only affects others' sleep, but also a disease that does a lot of harm. It is an important independent risk factor for stroke, acute sudden cardiac death and many other diseases.

Hazards of snoring

Pathogenesis of snoring

The main causes of snoring are pharyngeal airway stenosis, pharyngeal neuromuscular dysfunction, obstructive lesions of nose and throat, endocrine diseases and craniofacial malformations. Due to the decrease of pharyngeal muscle tension during sleep, the original relatively narrow pharyngeal cavity becomes narrower, and the vortex is generated when the respiratory air flow passes through, resulting in the vibration of pharyngeal wall soft tissue such as soft palate, uvula, pharyngeal palatal arch and lingual palatal arch, resulting in snoring.

Correct understanding of snoring

Hazards of snoring

1: Cause hypertension

As we all know, hypertension is the most important factor causing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. According to the research, 20% ~ 30% of patients with essential hypertension are caused by sleep apnea, at least 30% of patients with hypertension are snoring, and 45% ~ 48% of snoring patients have hypertension. Snoring is one of the pathogenesis factors of hypertension independent of age, weight, diet, genetics and other factors.

The mechanism of snoring induced hypertension is considered to be related to the increase of intrathoracic negative pressure, hypoxemia, hypercapnia and fragmented sleep, because these factors can excite the sympathetic vagus nerve function, increase the contraction of arterioles and cardiac blood transfusion, increase the pressure of pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation, and produce the periodic increase of pulmonary artery and even systemic artery pressure, resulting in essential hypertension. At the same time, hypoxemia and hypercapnia can increase the release of catecholamines in adrenal medulla and cause the increase of blood pressure.

Sleep apnea syndrome

2: Cause sleep disorders

Moreover, snoring patients are prone to insomnia. Snoring leads to repeated micro awakening due to repeated apnea, resulting in the destruction of normal sleep structure, the increase of shallow sleep and micro awakening, the decrease of deep sleep, and the inability to rest at night, resulting in drowsiness during the day, insufficient energy, dizziness, and the decline of memory, judgment, responsiveness and attention.

Snoring affects others' sleep

3: Cause hyperglycemia and obesity

Snoring not only causes hypertension, but also easily leads to hyperglycemia, obesity and other situations. Snoring can cause hypoxemia and hypercapnia, excitement of sympathetic vagus nerve function, vasoconstriction, increased catecholamine release, disorder of glucose and fat metabolism, damage to multiple system organs, hypertension, hyperglycemia, obesity, etc.

4: Cause stroke

Why does snoring cause stroke? That is because snoring is often accompanied by apnea, hypoxemia and hypercapnia, resulting in increased secretion of vasoactive substances, systemic arterial contraction and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle, stenosis and elevated blood pressure, which directly damage the intima of cerebral vessels, easily lead to cerebral atherosclerosis, plaque falling off and ischemic stroke.

5: Cause coronary heart disease

The incidence rate of coronary heart disease in snoring patients is increased. Due to the nocturnal hypoxia and neuroendocrine abnormalities, the elevated pressure substances such as catecholamine and endothelin are activated, which makes blood pressure increase during sleep and aggravates the damage to target organs. The incidence rate of coronary heart disease is increased. The degree and course of snoring increased, and the number and degree of myocardial ischemic attack increased.

Treatment of snoring

Enhance physical exercise

Develop good living habits

Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, such as vitamin C, e β Carotene, lycopene and flavonoid food;

Try to avoid greasy fried products, because they are not easy to digest and easy to generate moisture and heat, which is not conducive to the recovery of the disease;

Snoring is mostly damp and hot, so avoid spicy and hot products in diet, such as leek, mutton, chicken, star anise, clove, pepper, etc.
