What are space weapons?

[concept]

Space weapons refer to all weapons deployed in space, land, sea and air to strike, destroy and interfere with space targets and attack land, sea and air targets from space.

Space weapons include anti satellite weapons, orbital bombing weapons, partial orbital bombing weapons, space-based anti missile weapons and other types. Its targets include aircraft, intercontinental missiles, spacecraft, ground command and communication facilities, missile bases and spacecraft launch facilities.

[killing method]

Space weapons destroy the structure of targets through the effects of thermal radiation, nuclear radiation and electromagnetic pulse produced by the explosion of nuclear devices. It can be divided into non nuclear energy and nuclear energy according to the mode of killing. Non nuclear killing can be divided into directional energy and kinetic energy. Directed energy killing is to destroy the target by emitting high-energy laser beam, particle beam and low light beam. These space weapons are also called high-energy laser weapon, particle beam weapon and microwave weapon. Kinetic energy killing refers to destroying the target by relying on the momentum of the high-speed moving object. It can also explode near the target through the high-energy explosive blasting device carried by the warhead to produce dense metal fragments to destroy the target. Relying on the momentum of high-speed moving objects to destroy the target, the main method is to accelerate the warhead to a high speed by means of rocket propulsion or electromagnetic force, so that it can directly collide with the target and produce explosion.

Space weapons are the basic means of air warfare. They are new weapons for future wars. It is expected that in the 21st century, various kinetic and directional energy anti satellite and anti missile weapons will enter the deployment stage, and they may form a new deterrent combined with offensive strategic missiles.
