Is it really difficult for iron trees to blossom

Iron tree is a very common and famous ornamental plant. It has a beautiful shape. A main stem rises from the ground, and all leaves are concentrated at the top of the stem. The leaves of iron tree are big and strong, like the legendary phoenix tail, so it is often called Phoenix Tail banana.

Speaking of the iron tree, you can't help but think of the saying "Millennium iron tree blossoms", which means that seeing the iron tree bloom is almost equal to seeing a miracle. Indeed, many people have never seen the flowers of the iron tree, but don't feel sorry at all, because its flowers are not beautiful at all. The flowers of iron tree are divided into male flowers and female flowers, and each plant can only have one flower. The shapes of these two kinds of flowers are very different. The male flower is very large, like a huge corncob. It is grayish green when it first opens and gradually turns brown when it matures. The female flower is like a big POM POM, which also changes from grayish green to brown.

Since ancient times, many people have thought that the flowering of iron trees is a great event. In fact, no matter what kind of iron tree, as long as the environmental conditions are suitable, it can bloom normally. In that case, why do people think it is difficult for iron trees to blossom? Originally, the origin of iron tree is in the tropics. It naturally likes warm or even hot environment and is afraid of low temperature and cold climate. For example, the iron tree growing in southern China, such as Guangdong and Hainan Island, blooms every year. It's not surprising for locals to see it. However, when it came to East China in Shanghai and Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the temperature was much lower than that in the south, which made the iron tree feel uncomfortable. Although it could barely survive, it could not bloom normally. Therefore, people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang can hardly see the flowering of Tieshu. If it opens once in a while, many people will compete to watch it. The saying that it is difficult for Tieshu to blossom has been handed down from generation to generation.

If the iron tree is moved to the colder north, such as Beijing, Harbin and other places, let alone flowering, it is difficult to survive. Of course, cultivation in a greenhouse is another matter.
