Why five days off in 2020

On the eve of May Day in 1921, in the Changxindian labor Tutorial school founded by Deng Zhongxia, a member of the Communist group in Beijing, workers learned to sing the May Day Memorial song. I sorted out why 2020 may day has a five-day holiday for reference.

Why is there a five-day holiday on May Day 2020

Because it is stipulated by the State Council.

The general office of the State Council issued a notice on the arrangement of some holidays in 2020:

I. New Year's Day:

It will be a holiday on January 1, 2020, a total of 1 day.

II. Spring Festival:

From January 24 to 30, there is a 7-day holiday. Work on January 19 (Sunday) and February 1 (Saturday).

III. Tomb Sweeping Day:

From April 4 to 6, it is a three-day holiday.

IV. Labor Day:

From May 1 to May 5, it is a five-day holiday. Work on April 26 (Sunday) and May 9 (Saturday).

V. Dragon Boat Festival:

From June 25 to 27, it will be a three-day holiday. Go to work on June 28 (Sunday).

Vi. national day and Mid Autumn Festival:

From October 1 to 8, there is a holiday for 8 days. Work on September 27 (Sunday) and October 10 (Saturday).

Labor Day activities

Europe still celebrates may day with demonstrations. In Britain and Germany, the authorities are worried that there may be anarchists making trouble in the demonstrations. In Berlin, Germany, police clashed with anarchists in the middle of the night and many people were arrested. However, thousands of trade union activists marched peacefully in the city. In France and Austria, opponents of pension reform also took to the streets. It can be seen from the news pictures of Turkish state television that the police beat the demonstrators with batons and pulled one of them away by pulling his hair.

Britain, France and other European countries have identified may day as labor day. Many countries have a day off, while others put public holidays on the first Monday of may according to the situation. However, unlike most countries in the world, although Italy recognizes the May Day International Labor Day and the government also shows respect for labor, ordinary people do not hold special celebrations and there is no national May Day holiday.

Thailand first promulgated labor regulations in 1932, and then designated May 1 of each year as the national labor day to reward hard-working workers. On this day, Thailand has a national holiday. There will be relevant celebrations in the capital and some big cities, but the scale is generally not too large.

Labor Day Song

On the eve of May Day in 1921, in the Changxindian labor Tutorial school founded by Deng Zhongxia, a member of the Communist group in Beijing, workers learned to sing the May Day Memorial song.

Its lyrics are: "beautiful freedom, world star, fight my blood, sacrifice for him, clean up all the power system, and remember the good day of May 1. Red flags fly, walk the bright road, do their best, take what they need, regardless of poverty, wealth, honor and lowly, responsibility is mutual assistance, and I wish everyone to work hard and forge ahead."

This magnificent and powerful song was created by teachers of Changxindian labor practice school and progressive students of Peking University.
