Generally speaking, for installed programs, the system has a default opening method, such as opening relevant documents with word, opening tables with Excel, and opening Notepad files with txt. However, sometimes, some uncommon programs appear, which will also make the computer unable to recognize. Here are some relevant materials I sorted out about win7 system's inability to choose the default opening method for programs for your reference.
1. Let's randomly select a file here as an example. For example, if the computer can't recognize a PDF file and set the default opening method, when we double-click it, the interface shown in the figure below will appear, which needs us to reset.
2. However, there are limited ways to open PDF files, and there is no suitable program to open PDF files. At this time, we click the Browse button below.
3. In the next window, if the program you want to select still doesn't exist, we can directly press Win + R to open the computer's running window, then enter regedit and click enter.
4. After opening the registry editor window of the computer, we locate HKEY in the menu on the left_ CURRENT_ USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerFileExts. Pdf, and then delete all items under openwithlist except the default items.
1. The suffix is Pdf file of PDF as an example. No application is currently associated with this file.
2. Double click to open the dialog box. There is no application you want to use.
3. Click "browse (b)..." and select the application you want, but it still doesn't appear in the application list
4. Open the registry editor. (please back up your current registry to avoid accidents!)
5. Find "hkey_current_user / software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / fileexts /. PDF" (here corresponds to your current file suffix, here take. PDF as an example) "as shown in the figure, and delete the registry keys other than" (default) "and" userchoice "under" openwithlist ".
6. Close the registry editor. Double click the file you want to open, browse and select the application you want to use in the opening method dialog box.
