Mount Emei is located in Emei County in the southwest of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. It is named "Emei Mountain" because of its winding and continuous mountains, like the fairy's Emei, which is thin and long, beautiful and colorful. Mount Emei is towering and beautiful. It has been known as "Emei is the best in the world" since ancient times.
Jinding is the peak of Mount Emei, 3077 meters above the sea. Buddha light is a magical optical phenomenon. Every morning or evening, if people stand in front of the sacrificial rock, they will appear in the clouds in the opposite direction of the sun. Outside the shadow, there is a huge color halo. This halo is like the aperture on the Buddha's head in some ancient paintings, so it is called Buddha light or Baoguang, also known as Emei Baoguang.
In fact, this is the result of the diffraction of sunlight through countless water droplets suspended in the air. The result is that the light source (usually sunlight) is emitted from behind the observer. When passing through the two thin layers of cloud droplets before and after the array, the former cloud droplet layer has a light splitting effect on the incident sunlight, and the latter cloud droplet layer has a reflection effect on the separated color light. The reflected light disperses or converges to the side of the sun. At any eye point to meet the converging light (i.e. the person standing between the sun and the clouds), a slightly different circular color light image can be seen, which is the Buddha light.
As long as the light is strong, the radius of cloud droplets is small and the size is uniform. Generally, multiple halos with different brightness can be seen, but the "Buddha light" with the same color order is generally 4 circles. Because the light intensity of the fourth halo in the outermost layer is too weak, it is usually difficult for human eyes to distinguish even if it appears. It is not easy to see the Buddha light. You can only see it when there are thick clouds in front of you and strong sunshine behind you at the right time in the morning or afternoon.
