Being able to use fire, especially being able to control fire, is one of the important events in human evolution. During the excavation of Zhoukoudian site in Beijing, China from 1927 to 1937, experts confirmed carbon in the accompanying human fossils and stone tools, and found a large number of obviously burned animal bones and ash layers. It is speculated that humans had begun to use fire at that time.
Scholars have questioned whether zhoudiankou has the ability to control the combustion of ancient plants in the cave for a long time since the 1980s. Later, paleoanthropologists conducted comprehensive analysis from many aspects to demonstrate that there was evidence of human use of fire in the cave.
At present, it is generally believed in the field of paleoanthropology that Peking man has begun to use fire, but whether they can retain fire and control fire is still under study.
