What is a tropical rain forest?

Have you ever heard of tropical rain forests? From this name, we can know that this is a kind of forest distributed in tropical areas, where not only the climate is hot, but also there is a lot of rain. Tropical rain forest is the most densely vegetated forest in the world. The whole forest is always green all year round. There are not only rich species of plants, but also many strange lifestyles.

Many tall tree species grow in the tropical rain forest, often more than 30 meters. They occupy the highest level of the whole forest and get the most sunshine, so they grow lush. However, it is not easy to support such a tall body. In addition to the thick trunk, there is also a wide plate-shaped root at the base of the trunk of some big trees. They bulge like planks, several meters high, which helps to support tall and heavy trunks.

Because the climate of tropical rain forest is always warm and humid, it is especially suitable for plant growth. Therefore, from the upper layer to the lower layer of the forest, it is crowded with various plants, and the whole forest is almost airtight. Some plants have no foothold at all and can't grow straight. As a result, they have evolved into winding vines. They climb among the trees like snakes, drilling wherever there is a gap, making the forest seem to be intertwined with a natural network.

In the tropical rain forest, tall trees take away the sunshine from the upper layer, and many small plants living in the lower layer of the forest also have their own ways of survival. Many plants no longer rely on sunlight for photosynthesis, but attach to the branches or roots of big trees. Some mosses and algae simply live directly on the wide leaves of plants, making some tall trees look as if they are wrapped with a strange "coat".
