As the saying goes, "everything grows by the sun". Plants need photosynthesis, which is even more inseparable from the sun. Once some amateur flower growers bought Chlorophytum and placed it on the balcony with the most sunshine, and watered it regularly and took good care of it. However, Chlorophytum did not grow more and more lush. On the contrary, the leaves turned yellow day by day, and the situation became worse and worse.
It turns out that in the plant world with thousands of species, some plants like "basking in the sun", while others are afraid of "basking in the sun". Plants that like to "bask in the sun" need sufficient sunlight to grow well, otherwise they will be "depressed". This kind of plants are called sunny plants. Those plants that are afraid of "basking in the sun" need only a little light to grow, and they will be "sunburned to death" in direct sunlight. These plants are called shade plants. Chlorophytum is just a shade plant that is afraid of "basking in the sun". Of course, it is difficult to grow well if it is placed on the balcony with strong light.
If the microstructure in the leaves of shade plants is observed, it can better explain the problem. For example, its chloroplasts usually have larger grana, more grana lamellae and high chlorophyll content, so they can fully absorb light under low light conditions. Moreover, the ratio of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b of shade plants is small, which can make strong use of blue and purple light. In fact, the naked eye can also make a general distinction. Generally, the leaf color of shade plants is dark green, indicating that it contains more chlorophyll to help the plant carry out photosynthesis most effectively under relatively weak light.
The "character" of plants loving Yin and Yang is not formed in a short time, but the result of long-term adaptation to different environments. Some plants live in the environment with direct sunlight and strong illumination for a long time, while some plants grow in dark "sunless" valleys and woods for a long time. Over time, plants adapt to their living environment and form the characteristics of loving yin or yang. Of course, shade plants do not need any sunlight, but relatively weak light can meet their growth needs.
