Wu Renbao (1928.11.17 ~ 2013.03.18), male, Han nationality, was born in wujiaji, Huashu Township, Jiangyin County, Jiangsu Province in November 1928. He joined the New Democratic Youth League in 1951 and the Communist Party of China in October 1954. He once served as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Secretary of the Jiangyin county Party committee, Secretary of the Huaxi village Party committee, President of the national well-off village Research Association, vice president of China Poverty Alleviation and Development Association, vice chairman and deputy general manager of Huaxi Group, and director of the Huaxi village Party committee, village committee and general office of enterprise groups in Jiangyin County, Jiangsu Province. Deputies to the tenth, eleventh and seventeenth national congresses of the Communist Party of China, and deputies to the sixth, seventh and Eighth National People's congresses. Wu Renbao was diagnosed with lung cancer in January this year. After struggling with the disease for more than two months, he died at 18:58 yesterday. According to sun Haiyan, deputy secretary of Huaxi Village, Wu Renbao has been working at the last moment of his life. "The old secretary asked the staff around him to read to him the spirit of the national two sessions and left his last words of 'building Huaxi well and benefiting the people of one side'."

The life of this hale and hearty old man with a strong Jiangyin dialect and a loud voice reflects, to a certain extent, the epitome of China's rural farewell to poverty and prosperity since the reform and opening up. Since the reform and opening up, he has led the villagers in West China to adhere to the common prosperity development path dominated by the collective economy, making Huaxi village the richest village in China. As early as the 1990s, the villagers drove cars, lived in villas and lived the same life as urban people. He has great prestige in the village and is affectionately known as the "old secretary". After retirement, he also worked in another way: he insisted on explaining his story and Huaxi Village's experience in building a new countryside to rural cadres and tourists in the auditorium of Huaxi Village's National Palace. Wu Renbao, known as "the most famous farmer in China", once built the poor and backward Huaxi village into China's recognized "the first village in the world". He appeared on the cover of time magazine in 2005.

Huaxi village is an ordinary small village in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, Eastern China. Half a century ago, farmers here often went hungry. Today, they live in villas, have cars and have a per capita deposit of more than one million yuan. As well as the "first home with air conditioning" and "telephone" in Huacun village in the end of the century, it has become the "first home with air conditioning" and "West Village" in China. This myth of "common prosperity", which has constantly aroused the interest of Chinese farmers, has been realized due to Wu Renbao's direct leadership for nearly 50 years.

In order to get Wu Renbao's guidance and share the experience of Huaxi Village, a number of surrounding villages have voluntarily merged into Huaxi village since 2001. By 2006, Huaxi village had expanded from 0.96 square kilometers and more than 1600 people to 35 square kilometers, with 13 villages and 35000 people under its jurisdiction. After Jiangyin county was removed from the district and merged into the township in 1957, the area of Huaxi village was changed from huldai township to Huashu Township, named the 23rd senior society of Huashu Township, and Wu Renbao was the Secretary of the Party branch of the 23rd senior society of Huashi township.

On August 23, 1958, the company merged with three nearby high-level companies, namely Taiqing, Maqiao and Lixin, and was called Yuejin company. Wu Renbao was changed to Secretary of the Party branch of Yuejin company.

On October 15, 1961, the 17th brigade of Huashu people's commune was divided into four brigades: Huaxi (named because it is in the west of Huashu people's commune), Qianjin, Xiangyang and Lixin. Wu Renbao was appointed secretary of the Party branch of the West China brigade.

On October 1, 1976, West China was officially opened to the outside world with the approval of relevant state departments. In that year, 841 guests from 35 countries and regions were received.

In the winter of 1980, the rural areas of Jiangyin county began to implement the contract responsibility system linked to output. In 1983, Huaxi brigade was restored to Huaxi Village, and Wu Renbao continued to serve as the Secretary of the village Party branch.

On December 17, 1984, the Party branch of Huaxi village was re elected as the general Party branch of Huaxi Village, and Wu Renbao was elected secretary of the general Party branch.

On July 1, 1989, Huaxi village established a party committee, and Wu Renbao served as the Secretary of the village Party committee.

On July 28, 1995, the Third Congress of Huaxi village of the Communist Party of China was held, and Wu Renbao was elected secretary of the Party committee.

From August to November 1995, two Huaxi villages outside the province were established in Ningxia and Heilongjiang, reclaiming thousands of mu of wasteland, setting up dozens of enterprises and helping tens of thousands of villagers.

On February 3, 1998, the Fourth Congress of Huaxi village of the Communist Party of China was held, and Wu Renbao was elected secretary of the Party committee.

On August 10, 1999, 35 million a shares issued by huaxicun branch were listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The opening price was 6 yuan per share, an increase of 48% over the issue price. In June 2001, Huaxi Village incorporated four surrounding villages of Huaming, Jingbang, Sanyu lane and Qianjin into Huaxi by means of "one division and five unification". The area increased from 96 square kilometers to 53 square kilometers, and the population increased from more than 2000 to more than 7400.

On February 12, 2002 (the first day of the first lunar month), Huaxi village began to implement the activity of "buying" a Huaxi Village Hukou with an investment of 100000 yuan by people outside the village (at this time, Huaxi Village's per capita fixed assets were 1.27 million yuan).

From March 2002 to January 2003, Huaxi Village incorporated six villages into West China through the "one division and five unification" method, including Xixiang, beimiaojia, Hudai, zhujiangxiang, Chentang and shuishuixiang, with an area of 63 square kilometers and a population of more than 16700.

In September 2004, Huaxi Village incorporated Caihe village and Lubei village into West China through the method of "one division and five unification". The area of West China has reached 30 square kilometers, with a population of more than 30000 people and more than 9300 households.

On January 8, 2005, Huaxi village held a press conference and announced that the sales revenue of the whole village would reach 300 million yuan by the end of 2004.

By the end of 2005, the sales revenue of Huaxi Village in 2005 is expected to exceed 30 billion yuan.

Comrade Wu Renbao, former party secretary of Huaxi Village, Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, died at his home in Huaxi village at 18:58 on March 18, 2013 at the age of 85 because of ineffective treatment for lung cancer.
